The Strategy and Engagement Service has a team of around 60 staff and sits within the Customer and Support Services Directorate.

Delivering strategic communications, ensuring our residents are informed and that we engage with them in meaningful ways where they are able to influence the decisions the Council makes are core to our work, which can range from working with the media, to marketing, driving behavioural change campaigns or running consultations.
As the Council’s Place Marketing Officer, you will be responsible for collecting and analysing customer insight to develop a communications and marketing approach that is consistent with the Council’s vision. The post holder will be responsible for working closely with stakeholders and partners across the public, private and NGO sectors.
A core focus of the role is to develop and implement a Place Marketing Plan and associated ambassadorial schemes, raising the profile of Cornwall regionally and nationally as a place to invest, work, live and visit.
As a skilled copywriter, the role holder will generate creative ideas and be able to identify where marketing may present commercial opportunities, assisting officers on the development and delivery of effective proactive arrangements for engaging with the local, regional, national and professional media in all matters including strategy to raise the profile of Cornwall to secure and attract new investment and Government funding for the area.
You will be an experienced communications and marketing professional who can demonstrate rounded experience within a corporate setting. With ambition to innovate, inspire and engage others you will be responsible for identifying brand building opportunities and pre-empting reputational opportunities whilst ensuring that the organisation’s commercial aspirations are at the forefront of all communications, marketing and engagement matters.
To succeed in the role you will be an innovative and strategic thinker with confident proactive skills with the ability to work collaboratively, supporting the Campaigns and Marketing Manager and working closely with stakeholders, elected members and the organisation’s senior leadership team.
