Communications Officer (Digital)
The Electoral Commission
Full-time and permanent
Salary: £27,991 per annum
Closing date: 8 July 2018 (23.59pm)
The Electoral Commission is the independent body which oversees elections and regulates political finance in the UK. In this role you’ll contribute to ensuring the UK’s elections are well-run and the public have confidence in democratic processes.
We are looking for a digital communications professional to manage our websites, including creating content and liaising with our agencies on development and technical support work.
When you first start you’ll get stuck in by leading aspects of a major project to redevelop our corporate website. This will see you working with colleagues from across the Electoral Commission to create content that fits the new standards you’ll help to introduce.
You’ll also train people in using our content management system and provide insights about what is and isn’t working with our content, making recommendations for improvements to ensure our approach is always user-focused and insight-led.
When we run major campaigns ahead of elections, you’ll contribute by preparing content to help people vote and you’ll ensure we have the right technical support in place to handle a high volume of traffic.
You’ll also help to produce content for our voter engagement social media channels and you’ll work with colleagues to maintain our digital performance data, to ensure we’re effectively monitoring and we’re constantly improving what we do.
The right person for this role will be proactive, independent, and able to consistently meet deadlines while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
You’ll need good experience in using content management systems. Expertise in Google Analytics and Adobe Photoshop or InDesign would be helpful too.
You’ll also need good influencing and relationship management skills, as you’ll have input on content owned by others and you’ll need to establish yourself as a trusted authority on digital content.
The Electoral Commission offers excellent terms and conditions, including flexible working hours and the opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements (dependent on scheme rules) which include a valuable range of benefits.
The closing date for applications is Sunday 8 July, 2018 at 23:59pm, and interviews will take place on 16 and 17 July.
You can apply for this role online with a supporting statement outlining how your experience and skills meet the essential criteria in the job description.
We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
