Job summary

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional individual to be appointed as a Band 5 Communications and Marketing Coordinator.

The post holder will be part of the Communication, Engagement and Involvement team and support the delivery of ongoing effective campaigns to showcase Wales as a leading nation in health and care research delivery.

The individual will work creatively and collaboratively communicating the key messages to new industry partners, clinical leaders, the NHS and the media and to manage communication with our research community.

The post holder will require excellent communication skills, have a positive and flexible approach to the needs of the Service, be motivated, ready for the next challenge and enjoy working as part of a very busy team.

The post may close early if sufficient applications are received.

Main duties of the job

  • Support the Communications, Engagement and Involvement team to highlight the impact of health and social care in Wales.

  • Organise events, deliver campaigns and engage with stakeholders.

  • Support the implementation of creative, integrated campaigns, working with the Communications, Engagement and Involvement team and the wider research Infrastructure - preparing regular creative data-driven content.

  • Ensure information is tailored and communicated effectively to the relevant target audiences in written and digital formats.

  • Support the planning and delivery of events, conferences, workshops and other engagement activities that reach a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Support with protecting and developing the Health and Care Research Wales brand/ identity

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level in a PR, communications, marketing or other relevant field, or equivalent level of knowledge and experience

  • Knowledge and practical application of external communications, online engagement, event management and marketing techniques

  • A good understanding of design techniques; sourcing design and print and providing detailed briefs

  • Understanding and application of campaign development, implementation and evaluation

  • Demonstrable understanding of insight and evaluation methods and their use in developing communications and engagement outputs

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of public facing communications, B2B and engagement

  • Experience of working collaboratively to achieve a common goal

  • Experience of developing, implementing and evaluating campaigns

  • Advanced communication skills including knowledge and understanding of social media and digital channels

Skills

Essential

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills required, adaptable to different audiences and purposes

  • Ability to use social media and online engagement to reach a wide variety of audiences

  • Able to comprehend and communicate complex or sensitive information to achieve cooperation

  • Uses judgement to provide options on communication approaches

  • Creative thinker and strong people skills, with an ability to work with a wide range of people

  • Ability to empathise and build relationships
