The UnAwards15 were my highlight of 2015. Having the opportunity to see the passion, creativity and results from some of the brilliant work taking place across the UK and beyond was quite a privilege.
The UnAwards ceremony was a belter – well, I swear I heard someone say that on the day.
It was a unique event which placed an important spotlight on our industry and in a way which was accessible to everyone regardless of budget or grade.
After the event, many of you asked for the chance to see and hear more about the winning work.
So, with just one shake of a billy goat’s tail, we have organised an UnAwards Winners Masterclass.
Actually, that’s a lie. We have organised three. This gives us the chance to take the Masterclasses around the country with regional events taking place in Leeds, Birmingham and London.
Hurray, I hear you cry.
But that’s not all. The Masterclasses will be free to attend (if you work in the public or third sector)
Now we can only do this due to our friends at the Local Government Association, who have very kindly agreed to be our Masterclass partner, and the good folks at GovDelivery and Alive With Ideas who are once again backing us by sponsoring these Masterclasses.
Many, many thanks to you.
Each Masterclass will have a regional flavour – Yorkshire featured strongly in the UnAwards winners’ league table and so we simply had to visit. Leeds will be our host city - thanks to Phil Jewitt and the comms team at Leeds City Council for offering to help make the event fly.
The West Midlands also featured strongly at the UnAwards15 and so my home town was an obvious choice to host the Midlands event. We’ll be at the rather lovely Studio venue in Birmingham, just minutes from New Street Station.
And finally we’ll be in the capital and have been very fortunate to secure the Mayor’s Rooms at Westminster City Hall with spectacular views across London. Many thanks to Eleri Roberts and Kim Patterson at Westminster City Council for this and in hosting our final Masterclass. London picked up several awards and you’ll hear all about the winning work there.
There will be plenty of learning on tap as we’ll hear from five winners at each event. Each winner will share in detail their issues and objectives, plans and tactics, results and outcomes.
And you’ll get the chance to ask them questions about their winning campaigns and projects.
Each Masterclass will be unique in that the afternoon will feature a learning-busting unconference, where you the attendees decide the content. It will certainly feature some of the issues and achievements featured in the morning session. And it will no doubt tackle the biggest problems, and opportunities, facing us in 2016.
Creating the opportunities to meet colleagues in this way - share ideas, learn from one another and work together - lies at the very core of why we created comms2point0 and so I’m very excited that we can deliver these Masterclasses. I just know we’ll learn plenty from each another.
Now the flip side of those tickets being free to the public and third sector is that they are likely to be in great demand. We have up to 50 spaces available at each regional event so if you want to be there be quick and grab yourself a ticket now.
We look forward to seeing you there.
