what’s on your plate?

June 18, 2017 Darren Caveney

The Public Sector Communications Academy is always one the highlights of the industry events calendar. We’ve been pleased to attend and support it for many years. Here’s why you should think about attending this year…

by Simon Jones

Are you being asked for behaviour change campaigns?

Are your councillors looking to improve the way you engage with your community?

Got to work more commercially?

Want more video content?

Time to sharpen up at social media?

CEO challenging you to change culture?

Does evaluation keep you up and night?

The chances are that what is on your plate is on the plate of hundreds of other comms folk up and down the country, but why struggle in the dark on your own?

Step in the LGcommsPublic Sector Communications Academy which, for more than decade now has been the place where local government, and the wider public sector, has sought solace and inspiration, bringing the best ideas and learning from around the country and beyond to help develop your career.

This year we are proud to say that Academy will be held at the beautifully refurbished Cloth Hall in Leeds on October 18 and 19. And it will be a very different Academy this year with a range of events and activities happening continuously which will allow you to build your own Academy based do what is right for you. Those days of being stuck in a plenary that you couldn’t give a damn about are over.  If you don’t like it move to a workshop, discussion group or why not dip into a 1-2-1 skills surgery?

There will be something for everyone regardless of what level you are working at or what is on your plate which will make this year’s Academy the best ever.

And, oh yeah, you will also have access to the latest Government communications thinking, whether it is latest research on behavioural science, changing attitudes across our communities or technological change.

This year’s theme is fit for the future which is all about making sure that you and your colleagues have the skills and tools to succeed in a changing world.

And seeing as we are LGcomms which is there to represent best in class local government comms, we’ve kept the prices at the ridiculously low price of just £110 for an Early-Bird delegate day pass. That’s half the price of your average conference – but hurry that rate won’t be around for long.

We’re proud that this year’s Academy is powered by the LGA, Local Government Chronicle, comms2point0 and the Government’s Communications Service (GCS).

Can there be a more important two days in your diary this year?

I look forward to seeing you there.
