Inspired by the genius comic, Stewart Lee, I’ve decided to keep a record of all of my TV, film and cinema viewing throughout 2022. Plus, I will write a micro review for each one and list where I watched it.

If you’re like me you’re always on the hunt for a quality watch in and amongst some very average fayre.
So, these recs and ratings might be useful to you.
Here goes for May (and yes I do watch a fair bit. I’m really good at TV! 😄)
Film
Glengarry Glen Ross (Amazon)
Stellar cast propels this David Mamet stage play into a cracking but strangely below the radar 1992 movie 7.5/10
The Escape Artist (Amazon)
David Tennant stars in this excellent crime and court room thriller. Doesn’t pan out as you’d expect and well worth a watch 7/10
Horseman of the Apocalypse (Amazon)
You know you’re a tad bored when you find yourself watching a film like this all the way through to the end. Dennis Quaid can’t lift it above my kind score of 5/10
Twin Town (YouTube)
Drugs, joy riding, murder and revenge in this 90s Swansea-set black comedy 6.5/10
Together (iPlayer)
A modern tale for Covid times. Sharon Hogan and James McEvoy are excellent in a lockdown through the looking glass take on the ups, downs and more downs of a couple evaluating their lives and relationship. Funny and sad. I’m sure many will connect with elements of this one. 7.5/10
Sea Fever (Netflix)
Hermione Corfield is great and Dougray Scott always welcome in this interesting tale of an Irish trawler boat being attacked at sea by a mysterious parasite. 7/10
Disappearance at Clifton Hall (Netflix)
I really liked this despite it lowly 5.3 rating on IMDb. Quirky and original with a good twist and a plot which keeps you questioning whether you even know what’s going on 7/10
TV
Liar – Season 1 (Netflix)
Great guessing game in this British thriller. Very watchable until the truth spills out, and then runs into a season two outing. But, season two takes a real nosedive - it feels like a hammy soap opera - and is an example of those TV shows which should stick to one season 6.75/10 (5/10 for season two)
Theatre
Henry Vl at the RSC Stratford.
I know, fancy, huh. This was fun and a lovely chance to see a high quality production. 7.5/10
