Ealing is changing. As a place and as a council. We have a plan and we’re clear about where we need to get to. What can you do to help us?’’
Council leader Peter Mason
Ealing is a richly diverse borough in west London, with the third most ethnically diverse local population in the UK.
We are home to the globally iconic Ealing Studios, and the technically advanced film production complex in Garden Studios, along with a burgeoning hive of associated creative businesses.
The Ealing Summer Festivals programme brings comedy, blues, jazz, and much more. Our borough’s eclectic south Asian restaurants, shops and bars are renowned.
Ealing is also one of London’s best-connected boroughs, with the Elizabeth Line, national rail services and 3 Underground lines.
Making change
Our borough is amazing, but we know it can change for the better. That is why the council, and its partners, are working so hard to bring good, well-paid jobs back to the borough; are taking real climate action; and are relentlessly striving to tackle the inequalities that hold people back from achieving their aspirations. These are our priorities.
Meeting our ambitions calls for a new culture. Our new vision is Connected Communities. Research shows that social connection has a greater impact on our health than smoking, drinking or exercise. It also has a direct link to equality of opportunity, education, housing, and earnings. When people feel connected and supported – not just by institutions, but by each other, they thrive, and they are less likely to slip into crisis.
This is why we aim to massively increase social connection in the borough, giving everyone as much choice and power in their lives as possible – so that people can live happier and healthier lives and get more of what they need from each other.
Connected communities isn’t just about specific projects or initiatives: it’s at the heart of everything we do as a council. We will always provide support to those who need it, but we know that residents want to do more to help each other, too. So, we all need to rise to the challenge, and focus our efforts on finding new ways of working with communities to create the conditions for social connection to flourish.
That is why we need you…
With this in mind, Ealing Council’s communications team has undergone some exciting changes. We are looking to add to the seriously creative and committed people we now have in the team to help us lead and drive this change.
We are now recruiting a communications and campaign manager.
In this role you will have responsibility for leading and delivering the council’s strategic communications campaigns, managing and sourcing budgets, and working closely with councillor leads and strategic directors.
Your creativity is critical to this role, and you will also manage and inspire a small team of communications and campaigns officers.
You will pride yourself on building long term, productive and professional relationships as much as on your ability to produce impactful work; and, above all, your work will help us to improve how we engage with our key audiences – especially our residents. No 2 days will likely be the same and you will have incredible creative autonomy.
To have an informal conversation about the roles, the direction of the council and the exciting changes taking place in the communications team, please email Clare Saul, assistant director communications and public relations.
Ealing council is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. Ealing follows safer recruitment practices to protect children and vulnerable adults. The post holder will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Ealing Council is committed to creating good jobs and delivering on its connected communities’ agenda. We are committed to equality of opportunity, to being fair and inclusive.
We therefore welcome applications from all residents of the borough, we particularly welcome applications from candidates who are entering the employment market in the early stages of their career and mid-career professionals, who are currently underrepresented in Ealing’s workforce.
Please note all applications will be determined on merit.
