social media manager, ealing council

May 6, 2026 Darren Caveney

Social Media Manager

Ealing Council

Location: Ealing, West London

Salary: £55,323 to £57,402

Closing date: 18 May 2026

Job summary

We have an exciting, and incredibly rare, opportunity for someone creative to join us while we are on the crest of a wave.

Ealing Council’s social media channels are now up among the best performing in UK local government. They are admired, commented on, and even copied by others (we’re flattered).

We are working hard to make everyday things connect with our audiences – subjects that might otherwise sometimes be seen as boring.

From potholes to fly-tipping, our creative content is regularly going viral, with millions of views – involving a bit of dubstep, Olivia Dean, and explosions (not literally).

And now we want a social media manager who fancies the challenge of giving us even more aura.

Can you produce banging, but informative and entertaining social media content for things as diverse as bins, bikes and beavers? Or tell stories in different ways so they work equally well on Insta, TikTok, Facebook and beyond…?

Can you engage our residents and build on our growing relationship with our followers?

If you have answered ‘yes’ to most of the above, then we'd love to hear from you.

We want to make an appointment as soon as possible and can’t wait to add someone great to our team.

Working at Ealing Council

It's kind of the perfect time to join us, here at Ealing Council. From this summer, we will be working on delivering an ambitious new council plan for 2026-2030 and we are looking for individuals in a range of specialities.

Ealing is at the buzzing heart of west London and there is so much going on.

The council’s communications team has been picking up awards and has a range of channels and media to keep people informed and promote the interesting, varied and positive things going on within our communities.

If you would like to make a positive difference to our residents and the borough, then we're looking forward to hearing from you.

OK, I’m interested. What do I do?

First of all, take a look at the role profile and job description.

Still interested?

If you would like an informal chat before applying, please email birdj@ealing.gov.uk or nadalr@ealing.gov.uk and, if available, someone will try to arrange a quick phone call.

Equality and Inclusion:

Ealing council is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. Ealing follows safer recruitment practices to protect children and vulnerable adults.

We therefore welcome applications from all residents of the borough, we particularly welcome applications from candidates who are entering the employment market in the early stages of their career and mid-career professionals, who are currently underrepresented in Ealing’s workforce.

Closing date: 18 May 2026.

We plan to hold interviews in week commencing 21 May.
