We are looking for a proactive and creative team member to join Merton Council's high-performing external communications function. With a new structure and communications strategy, it's an exciting time to join us! The team is taking forward the council's ambitions and strategic objectives to help Build a Better Merton for everyone.
Support the council's mission to serve our community with trusted information.
Create brilliant communications content that raises awareness about the council's priorities and activities across our channels, including videos, images and basic graphic design.
Create impactful and influential behaviour change campaigns.
Put together clear and targeted communications plans with measurable objectives and outcomes.
Work closely with council service teams to deliver effective and creative communications within designated portfolio areas.
Proactively seek opportunities to work with the media, local stakeholders, community organisation to promote the council's services, policies and objectives.
Handle urgent media enquiries in a timely way, providing accurate and thorough responses.
Engage audiences using a full mix of digital communications.
Work collaboratively with senior leaders, councillors, and stakeholders providing trusted communications advice.
Support the delivery of consultations within designated portfolio areas.
Guard the council's reputation and advise in response to brand management, and crisis communications.
Be an expert adviser on external communications approaches and best practice across the organisation.
