About the Role
The Principal Policy Officer (Government Relations) is a new role that will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to increase Salford’s national and regional influence, build and manage stakeholder relationships including with central government, and improve the council’s ability to attract external funding. This role requires strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to navigate complex political and policy environments.
About you
We are looking for someone with proven experience working in government relations or a public policy environment, with a successful track record of engaging a wide range of stakeholders including MPs, civil servants and elected members.
You will have a strong passion for politics and a sound knowledge of the national political landscape, government priorities, and parliamentary processes.
The role requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex information. An appropriate degree or professional qualification is desirable but not essential. The role will also involve travel to London as required.
