In this new and exciting role you will lead a multi-disciplinary team who develop and implement operational communication strategies and activities across Thames Valley Police, which help fight crime, serve victims and builds trust and confidence in our force.
As part of the corporate communications leadership team, the role holder will contribute to the running of the department including the management of risk, performance, budget, business continuity and recruitment, professional development and wellbeing of communication professionals.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, and/or a professional qualification in communications, public relations, media or equivalent experience and have proven experience of working in a communications leadership role across internal and external communications with a proven track record of delivering impactful communications and with strong crisis communications skills.
You will have strong interpersonal communication skills along with political awareness and have the ability to build effective relationships in order to collaborate with and influence with multiple stakeholders.
The role requires the proven ability to think strategically, identify and mitigate risk and someone who is able to think about how the organisation is positioned, in terms of both the immediate and protracted response to issues impacting on trust and confidence.
Due to the requirement to work flexibly, unsocial hours and personal safety for lone working public transport may not be available or suitable at these times. For this reason a full UK driving licence is considered essential.
