About the role
As one of our Senior Communications Managers, you will play a pivotal role in leading our communications and marketing service. You will work closely with our Communications and Marketing Specialists to design and implement marketing campaigns, handle media relations, and oversee internal communications.
Your strategic vision will drive the promotion of the diverse range of Council services and support, ensuring that our residents, businesses, partners and staff are kept up-to-date with the latest news, decisions and policies.
You will have extensive experience in communications and marketing, with a proven track record in campaign development, media relations, digital marketing and social media. Your exceptional copywriting and storytelling abilities will be key in conveying our initiatives. Your creativity, pragmatism, and flexibility will enable you to handle challenges and present complex information in an easily digestible way for our audiences.
You will be a great leader and communicator, adept at navigating various communication disciplines and working across a range of departments and services. And you will be experienced in working with and advising colleagues and stakeholders at all levels of the organisation including our corporate leadership team.

What will you be doing?
As a Senior Communications Manager, you will lead the Communications and Marketing team, ensuring high-quality service delivery. Key responsibilities include developing and managing a Directorate Communications Plan, aligning activities with the Policy and Communications Service Plan, and ensuring compliance with copyright, GDPR, equality, and accessibility standards.
You will create marketing plans for major projects and events, liaise with directorates to meet marketing needs within budget, and promote the council's brand. Additionally, you'll manage key relationships with stakeholders, providing advice on communications and marketing.
You will monitor and evaluate marketing campaigns to ensure efficient delivery while maintaining the council's corporate identity. And you will lead the service in continuous improvement of our delivery.

About you
You will be an experienced communications leader that can demonstrate effective delivery of comprehensive and innovative marketing campaigns and brand strategies within large, complex organisations. With a proven track record of effectively leading a communications and marketing team and finding marketing solutions to complex challenges, making use of the latest techniques, practices, and digital communication tools to promote the work of organisations.
You must have clear evidence of building and maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers and senior managers, ensuring beneficial outcomes for the Council. A successful history in delivering campaigns and communications projects on time and within budget is essential.
In addition to your technical skills, you will need excellent interpersonal abilities to communicate effectively with clients at all levels across the organisation, the public, the media, and external agencies. You should be capable of working independently, managing your own workload, planning ahead, and maintaining accuracy under pressure and tight deadlines.
