Tens of millions of pounds have been secured to transform Walsall, and we are looking for a talented communications professional to join our team to tell the story of our people, our place and our council.

We have big ambitions to build on our proud industrial heritage and build a borough fit for the future.

Our team has an important role to play in this. Due to an internal promotion, we need a Press and Media Officer for our busy Press Desk who will work closely with local, regional and national media to raise awareness of the council’s work and promote the positive results the council is achieving across all its services.

The candidate:

So, if you’re someone with a flair for writing with lots of creative ideas and a passion for communications, we’d love to hear from you.

This role may also be suitable for journalists looking to develop a career in public sector communications.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Handling media enquiries.

  • Researching and writing press releases and liaising with relevant officers, senior managers and Members.

  • Supporting project teams and assisting with the planning and delivery of communications and marketing campaigns.

  • Creating engaging multimedia content for social media.

We advertise vacancies because we want the best talent available. If that’s you, we’re waiting for your application.
